The San Remo Festival 2025 has started!

Today marks the beginning of the week-long Festival di Sanremo 2025, an Italian music festival. There are 29 acts competing for a chance to win the festival and potentially represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The show started with a tribute to Ezio Bosso’s "Following a Bird," rearranged by the orchestra, featuring his words: “Music, like life, is made together.”

The first evening of San Remo was co-hosted by Antonella Clerici and Gerry Scotti, in conjunction with Carlo Conti. Special guests included Lorenzo Cherubini-Jovanotti, singers Noa and Mira Awad, who performed John Lennon’s "Imagine" to convey a message of peace. The Pope also made a surprise appearance, addressing children's suffering in war and highlighting music's power to unite. The Festival is being aired by RAI Uno.

Festival di San Remo will last for five nights, starting on 11th February 2025 (Tuesday) and ending on 15th February 2025 (Saturday).

As usual, two categories of artists will participate in the festival:

  • Categoria Campioni – The “Champions” (Big Artists) category will feature at least 25 artists.
  • Categoria Nuove Proposte – The “Newcomers” category will include four finalists from “Sanremo Giovani 2024."
