New Italian Movies for the Christmas Holidays!

Cortina Express

The Christmas comedy returns with "Cortina Express," directed by Eros Puglielli. However, it's important not to label it as a Cinepanettone. "Cortina Express" is a sophisticated farce that features a diverse array of characters reflecting the nation's many vices and, perhaps, a few virtues. Christian De Sica notes, "Comedy and farce still tell the story of the country today." The film boasts a talented cast, including the seasoned Christian De Sica, Lillo Petrolo, an unexpected Isabella Ferrari, as well as Paolo Calabresi, Francesco Bruni, Marco Marzocca, and Beatrice Modica. Together, they present a series of sharp, ironic portraits, as illustrated by Fulvia Caprara.

Dove osano le Cicogne - Where storks dare

Dove osano le Cicogne: Angelo Pintus is an elementary school teacher who is beloved by his students for his sense of humor. However, the principal, Antonio Catania, despises him, viewing Angelo as a threat to school order. Angelo is married to Marta Zoboli, and their lives would be happy and fulfilled if it weren't for one small issue: the stork seems to be ignoring their home! Despite their efforts, they just can't seem to welcome a baby.

Enter Andrea Perroni, Angelo's best friend, who suggests an unexpected solution for the couple. This leads to the arrival of a young Spanish girl named Luce, portrayed by Beatrice Arnera. Luce is a huge Barcelona fan—beautiful, sweet, and harboring a dangerously hidden secret. Her presence will turn their lives upside down like a whirlwind.

Diamanti

"Diamonds" vividly captures the frenetic energy of a theatrical costume workshop and the women who bring it to life in 1970s Rome. Ferzan Özpetek uses the metaphor of crafting costumes to tailor a deeply feminine narrative for his ensemble cast - a story of mutual understanding, complicity, unwavering support, and fierce determination. It's a world of solidarity and tireless creativity, where male figures revolve on the periphery, relegated to mere sidekicks or caricatures for once.

Io e te dobbiamo parlare - We need to talk

Io e te dobbiamo parlare: A woman in common, a daughter in half and a steering wheel for two. Matilde (Brenda Lodigiani) is in fact the ex-wife of Antonio (Alessandro Siani) and the current partner of Pieraldo (Leonardo Pieraccioni), the two are a couple at work in the police station but also divide Maria (Gea Dall'Orto), the daughter of the first who lives with his mother and with the second. And then there is Sara (Francesca Chillemi), the charming policewoman, with whom the two agents collaborate to solve a very intricate and risky case. Fate wanted to intertwine, in comedy, the lives of these two police officers who face the challenge of their careers and of a long-standing friendship that has undergone ups and downs.
