Boccaccesca 2024 - three days dedicated to food and wine, entertainment and craftsmanship from Thursday 10 Oct 2024 to Sunday 13 Oct 2024, among the streets of the medieval village of Certaldo in the heart of Tuscany and in the name of an illustrious fellow citizen: Giovanni Boccaccio. The event aims to raise awareness for the area through agri-food and artisanal excellence, Slow Food products, such as the famous Certaldo onion and other local delicacies. An event which, among the first, put cuisine, chefs, cooking shows and street food at the centre. Furthermore, every year there is the the Boccaccesca Prize, which is held in the courtyard of Palazzo Pretorio, which is awarded to a person who has brought prestige to Tuscany. All around, the streets of the ancient village of Certaldo are surrounded by flavors and knowledge, tastes and scents, while music resonates within the medieval walls.
In the picturesque medieval town of Certaldo Alto, local producers will meet with their colleagues from all over Italy and abroad, as well as the most important Tuscan chefs and alumni from hospitality schools. The event is a celebration of quality Tuscan living, featuring tastings of traditional dishes and wine, cooking lessons, workshops, and food/nutrition education for families and children. Certaldo is a town and municipality in Tuscany, Italy, located in the middle of Valdelsa. It is approximately 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of the Florence Cathedral (50 minutes by rail and 35 minutes by car from the city), and 40 minutes by rail north of Siena.
Tuscan wines such as Chianti Classico or Brunello di Montalcino are legendary, and tastings take place during the four days of the festival, with renowned sommeliers helping visitors choose and appreciate. Additionally, there will be stalls with delicacies from the region, operated by local shopkeepers.
