It's time for the Venice Film Festival and Veneto Cuisine!

It's time for the Venice Film Festival, now in its 81st edition. The Festival will be held from 28 August to 7 September 2024, at Venice Lido in Italy. Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will open the festival on 28 August 2024, followed by Maria with Angelian Jolie taking on the role of Maria Callas, while Pupi Avati's The American Backyard will close the festival on 7 September 2024. Considered one of the most renowned festivals in the world, as also demonstrated by its longevity, it will attract thousands of industry professionals, celebrities to the Lido island, as per tradition and enthusiasts.

Food is very important in Italy and on the occasion of the Film Festival, in addition to the restaurants and trattorias on the Lido of Venice for eating and drinking, temporary catering activities also have appeared: pop-ups (some even long-term) which host both chefs local and national, as well as events and appointments that revolve around cinema. The most visible restaurant at the Biennale Cinema is certainly Terrazza Biennale. It is located right at the end of the Red Carpet, directly overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Open to everyone, visitors to the Biennale and otherwise, the culinary direction has been entrusted for 15 years to the Treviso chef Tino Vettorello who curates a menu with dishes that have managed to conquer stars and divas on the international scene. You can eat at both lunch and dinner, with the possibility of enjoying à la carte dishes (prices from €10 to €38). In addition to oysters, desserts and smoked fish, we find, for example, Clooney-style turbot, with glasswort, citrus fruits and raspberry. But also dishes dedicated to the lagoon, such as local fried food with crunchy vegetables, or cod with mint courgette cream, yellow and red pepper and Pantelleria caper powder. Again the unforgettable carpaccio, served here however with sea bass at the base, and Nel blu diretta di blu, the black spaghetti with blue crab.

Campari has been the main sponsor of the Venice International Film Festival for six years. For the occasion it sets up the Campari Lounge, a temporary cocktail bar designed in Campari red. It is located inside the Biennale Terrace in front of the Casino Palace. This year the spaces of Nicelli airport, the small landing on the Lido, were also set up in Campari style.

It is an event that combines catering and cinema, created by the founders of Edipo Re, the historic boat that creates itinerant itineraries to discover the lagoon (we talked about it here). Thanks to them, the Lido proposal comes alive with Riva di Corinto, a space that comes to life from 24 August to 7 September this year, after several years of running-in. In the areas of the pier, the terrace and the trucks, it is possible to have an aperitif at sunset, a glass of wine and eat the dishes that this year will be cooked by the Teo Chef restaurant in Bassano del Grappa.
