Armani and Fiat have collaborated to design the ultimate Italian luxury car, a tiny electric city car perfect for Italy's ancient and narrow streets. At first, it might seem strange for Armani to be involved with the Fiat 500e, as it only has 118 horsepower. For comparison, Fiat's parent company, Stellantis, owns Maserati, whose 2024 flagship cars range from 290 to almost 600 horsepower. However, the Fiat 500e complements Armani's signature style of practical luxury. Designer Giorgio Armani's eponymous brand embodies a sense of utilitarian quality by combining impeccable craftsmanship with genuinely practical design. For example, Armani's mainline collections often feature technical fabrics cut in comfortable, easy silhouettes that are both approachable and practical, offering real-world luxury, albeit in a high-end form.
On the other hand, the Fiat 500e is a practical car designed for everyday drivers. It is competitively priced for a new car and crafted to navigate narrow European streets, while also representing contemporary Italian car design, making it a fitting counterpart to a designer who represents contemporary Italian clothing design. Armani and Fiat previously collaborated on a special 500e in 2020, so this is more of a repeat than a new release. This time, two limited editions of the Fiat 500e were unveiled for Armani's 90th birthday on July 11 (however, they won't be released until 2025).
The cars are functionally similar, featuring embroidered leather seats and a laser-cut wood dashboard inside. However, they represent two levels of Armani on the exterior. On one hand, there's the Armani logo on the wheels, complementing the subtle branding seen elsewhere. On the other hand, the cars are painted in special shades of Ceramic Greige and Dark Green Minimalised, elegant colours that reflect the Armani design style.Compare these two Fiats to the Mercedes speedster co-created by Armani over a decade ago: These collaborative cars are more aligned with Armani's vision of grounded opulence. They are the perfect Italian cars for the perfectly Italian fashion house.
