Giorgio Armani, at 90, presented one of his best collections in a long time. Since 1975, the Italian fashion designer has created glamorous attire, and his latest collection shows that he has no intention of slowing down. Armani has consistently delivered ultimate red carpet moments for four decades and is still a class act. The collection was one of his best in a long time, showcasing shimmering beaded and sequined versions of every Armani achievement of the past 40 years.
Celebrities like Eva Green, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris, and Jodie Turner-Smith were all front row at the show (Blanchett is also an Armani beauty global ambassador). The collection ranged from metallic trouser suits to the sparkling beaded dresses and twinkling cropped cardigan jackets, everything that glittered was gold — except when the beading or sequins were black. Crystal panels were sometimes patch-worked with black velvet, and pearls were a big theme. Giant pearls adorned hats, while smaller ones were incorporated into jackets or onto the seams of pockets.
Armani takes pride in not following everyone else and has no interest in being edgy. For instance, at the show, the soundtrack was by Glenn Miller. Nevertheless, Armani is considered one of the most visionary designers of the past half-century. Interestingly, some of his loose-fitting, maxi-tank dresses resembled those of Dior from the previous day. Like Dior's dresses, Armani's also had contrasting inserts under the armholes and had a breezy, slightly sporty look, with plenty of star power.
