The movie Race for Glory - Audi vs Lancia - a true David vs. Goliath story spotlighting the intense rivalry between Audi and Lancia at the 1983 Rally World Championship. Against all odds, Lancia battles to regain its former glory with a combination of innovation and courage. After its release in the United States, Canada and France, the movie Race for Glory – Audi vs Lancia has now arrived in Italian theaters. The film is set in 1983 and recalls the incredible story of the World Rally Championship, in which the courageous underdogs of the Lancia team, led by the charismatic Cesare Fiorio, took on the powerful Audi team in a feat that seemed impossible. The cast is international: alongside Riccardo Scamarcio, Volker Bruch, Daniel Brühl, Katie Clarkson-Hill, Haley Bennet star.
Filmed two years ago for 5 weeks in Piedmont between Turin (Lancia skyscraper, Mirafiori offices and other Stellantis locations including the Balocco Proving Ground), Novara, Val Formazza and Mottarone Park with the support of Film Commission Torino Piedmont, “Race for Glory – Audi vs Lancia” also saw the reconstruction of factories, rally routes and track services in Portugal, Corsica and Finland in the region. A special evening was organized by Film Commission Torino Piemonte and Lancia. At which Riccardo Scamarcio stops by and shares in an interview of how "Race for glory" was born, "Born from the challenge of a single man against all who manages to defeat an unbeatable enemy". The film is "dedicated to heroes, madmen and visionaries from the world of car racing": the (true) story of how Cesare Fiorio won the 1983 World Rally Championship with his Lancia team, beating the unbeatable Audi team, among rivalries, twists, steering wheel aces and interventions from the Goddess Fortune. Scamarcio is producing alongside Jeremy Thomas.
