Florentine house Salvatore Ferragamo took over the theater’s basement at the Fortezza del Basso in the heart of Florence to showcase its 100-year footwear history and the legendary heels made for Hollywood stars by its founder. An impressive pair of 18-carat gold heels was on show, creating a queue of visitors keen to take a picture with the shoes. The exhibition is open to the public and will run until November this year. Ferragamo had many patents, which expresses the width of his creativity and the multitude of his new ideas. In the forty years of Salvatore Ferragamo’s era, he produced more than 20 000 different models of shoes and 350 patents. Ferragamo acted like an industrial designer patenting each of his ideas that could be reproduced which made him very prolific especially during the post-war years. Patent Number 23 was for the 18-Carat Gold Sandal.
Ferragamo created a replica of its famous 1956 Sandal which is available for purchase on Farfetch and Baltini. Bejeweled 105mm sandals with gold-tone Highlights; made out of calf leather and goatskin. Square open toe with braided strap and buckle-fastening ankle strap. 105mm high heel
